Using the Help Template Previewer

Nimbus provides a Help Template Previewer for selecting a help template to use for the current project and for previewing the results of applying that template. The Help Template Previewer is accessed by selecting the Template tab of the help project’s properties.

The Help Template Previewer shows preview of a sample page for the template selected in the Available templates combo box. Use the Available templates combo box to view the different templates available. The choices shown will correspond to the pre-built template that ships with Nimbus (“Classic”) as well as custom templates that have been placed in the following folder>

\<ProgramData\>\Pacific MindWorks\Nimbus\\<version\>\HelpTemplates

Use the Switch to this template button to change the current project to use the template selected in the Available templates combo box and currently displayed.

Caution

When you switch help templates for a project, the template files are copied from the templateHelpTemplates folder (or from the Visual Studio Extensions folder where Nimbus reside) to the driver’s help project Template folder. This means that all customizations that might have been performed on the project’s help template are lost. Before switching help templates, be sure that the current project template has no customizations that need to be saved elsewhere. See the topic Sharing Help Templates Across Projects.

Note

If your driver help project is integrated with a Visual Studio source control system, this operation automatically performs the necessary source code control operations to add, remove and otherwise update the help template files included in the driver help project.
